1983-87 Pliva Tin i Tina
Features 1 (one) chess player card. #74. Garry Kasparov (v. Mikhail Tal, not shown). These cards are from sets produced over multiple years for the Pliva Pharmaceutical Company. Each years' set is numbered to 81, meaning you will see multiple cards with the same number. There are potentially both blank back and biographical backs, however, there are no known examples of a blank back Kasparov and it may not have been printed for that years set. The photo for the Kasparov card was taken at the 1983 Niksic, Yugoslavia tournament, which Kasparov won. The tournament took place in the Fall of 1983 putting the earliest date for the card as 1983 but more likely in one of the following years before Croatian and Serbian sources say the production ended in 1987. Pictures above include the front and back of the card first. The biographical information does not help to fully clarify whether the card is from before or after Kasparov defeated Karpov in 1985. Next is a picture from the Nikisic tournament matching the photo to that time. Mikhail Tal is his opponent on the card itself. They drew their game. Next is the front and back of the sealed pack of children's candy the cards were distributed in. Last is the front and back of an album for the cards dated 1987. If a reader can provide further information please comment. Only the chess player card is listed here.
