2005 Judit Polgar Mania Magazin Calendar Card
This Calendar card featuring Judit Polgar commemorates the 2005 Fide World Chess Championship played in Potrero de los Funes, San Luis Province, Argentina. Both Polgar and Peter Leko are Hungarian, which explains their appearances on these Hungary produced cards (Leko in 2004 and Polgar in 2005). The cards were produced by Mania Magazin in conjunction with and as advertising for Matav Telecom phone cards. Matav Telecom became Magyar Telecom in 2005. The advertised telephone cards of both Polgar and Kramnik/Leko with identical fronts to the calendar cards are pictured above. The calendar card front is identical to the phone card front while the calendar card back is a calendar. The phone card back features Peter Leko. However, unlike the phone cards, the calendar cards do not have an actual chip, only the image of one on them. The print run of the calendar card (200 db) can be found on the rear of the card while the 400 print run (400db) figure is a direct copy of the telephone card front. The calendar backs were produced for the calendar cards only.
